Whatever the size or configuration of your network, it’s vital to protect your organisation’s connectivity. Fibre optic closures (often referred to as fibre optic splicing closures) connect and store optical fibres safely in the outside plant, protecting them from the harsh environment.

Prysmian has a comprehensive portfolio of joints to manage the splicing and distribution of optical fibres throughout the network in both point-to-point and passive optical network (PON) environments. Our products include Optical Fibre Closures of various sizes as well as Connectorised Block Terminals (CBT)

Small Joint Closure (SJC)

The SJC Closure is a splice closure used for track or branch applications. Its robust construction makes it ideal for direct buried applications. The closure is supplied with four knock-out ports and two entry glands.

Ultra Compact Multi Function Joint (UMJ)

The UMJ is ideal for use as a Cable Chamber Joint, Track Joint, Spur Joint or Distribution Joint due to its capacity and compact size. The closure base has 4 circular entry ports and an oval port. UMJ closures are supplied with up to 6 single-element trays, each able to accommodate 12 splices providing a maximum capacity of 72 fibres. UMJ closures are supplied with up to 6 single- circuit double splice trays, each able to accommodate 2x4 splices providing a maximum capacity of 48 fibres. 

Compact Multi-Function Joint (CMJ)

The CMJ is designed for the jointing of optical fibre cables. It is supplied with 12 single element trays, each able to accommodate 12 splices providing a maximum capacity of 144 fibres, or 12 single circuit splice trays.

Medium Multi-Function Joint (MMJ)

The MMJ is a compact closure for the splicing of optical cables. MMJ are supplied with up to 24 single-element trays, each able to accommodate 12 splices providing a maximum capacity of 288 fibres, or 48 single circuit splice trays.

Large Multi-Function Joints (LMJ)

Prysmian's Large Multi-Function Joint is a large closure for optical cable splicing with two vertical tray stacks. It can accommodate a wide variety of cables such as loose tube, central loose tube, Flextube, ribbon and blown fibre cables. 

A modular tray system enables efficient fibre management in both Single Circuit Management (SCM) and Single Element Management (SEM) applications. The splice trays are compatible with a variety of splice protectors and splitters, providing flexibility across different network configurations. The closure base features ten circular entry ports and one oval port for cable routing and installation. LMJ closures have a maximum capacity of 1344 fibres using 12 fibre single element trays, 2688 fibres using 24 fibre single element trays or 4032 fibres using 36 fibre single element trays.

LMJ Gel Sealing Closure

The Gel Sealing Closure is used for access applications within the external optical network and can be used for track, spur and loop applications. It can accommodate a wide variety of cables such as loose tube, central loose tube, Flex tube and blown fibre. The modular tray system is designed for positive fibre management for Single Circuit Management (SCM) and Single Element Management(SEM), and the splice trays can accommodate a variety of different types of splice protectors and splitters. The joint eight gel module positions. Gel Modules are used to seal around the cables. The Gel Modules can seal around one or multiple cables depending on the cable diameters being installed. The closure can be mounted using one of the mounting brackets available or directly buried

Pre-connectorised xMJ

The Pre-connectorised xMJ closure range (CMJ/MMJ) is designed for jointing optical fibre cables. The joint is ideal for use as a final drop solution due to its capacity and compact size. It has a maximum capacity of 72 fibres (MMJ). The connectorised pigtails are factory-fitted, and each tray can accommodate up to 12 spliced fibres. The single-element tray can also house up to 1x1:8 splitter.
