Our social and climate change ambitions

We seek to become a global leader in sustainability. That’s why in 2021 we set challenging new climate and social goals that promote the transition towards a low-carbon world and a more equal and inclusive working environment.

Prysmian’s ambition is to be the leading technology player in the transition to a low-carbon economy, and our investments are aimed at constantly improving the sustainability of the entire value chain.

Ambition that we nurture every day with concrete actions: energy efficiency, responsible use of natural resources (raw materials and water), optimization of logistic flows, proper waste management, protection of biodiversity.

Prysmian’s climate strategy adopts science-based targets, which are aligned with the Paris Agreement climate ambition in the scenario of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. Specifically, in defining its commitment to Net Zero emissions, Prysmian adopts the protocol defined by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) which calls for:

  • the reduction of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions to zero, or at least to a residual level consistent with the minimum ambition under the Paris Agreement
  • the removal of any residual greenhouse gas emissions.

Within this initiative, Prysmian has taken the following actions:

  1. definition of an overall Net Zero target for its own emissions;
  2. definition of a short-term emissions-reduction target;
  3. definition of a long-term emissions-reduction target.

Our Social Ambition concentrates on new 2030 commitments to improve our performance in diversity, equality and inclusion (DE&I), digital inclusion, the empowerment of communities, employee engagement and upskilling. By adopting a pro-active approach, the Group is evolving into an organization that recognizes diversity, inclusion and gender equality at all levels, committed to facilitating the empowerment of women.
