Tree planting - an action to reduce carbon footprint
Sustainability in Prysmian Group is the commitment to promote a business model that integrates economic, social and environmental responsibility in all aspects and activities it carries out. Our practices, our partnerships, our people, our culture and our products are all focused on the goal of promoting sustainability on a broad scale.
In November at Prysmian Group Romania we organized a seedling planting event in the Milcov area. This project came about as a result of the collaboration between Prysmian Group and Enel Romania. The commitment behind this beautiful collaboration involved taking the necessary steps to certify the Carbon Footprint according to ISO 14067 of our products and planting 100 trees to reduce the carbon footprint.
The Carbon Footprint Certification was achieved in December 2019 with the help of colleagues from R&D, HSE, and Procurement departments who provided the necessary data to auditors from Delloite and SGS Italy for the ARE4H5EX 3x(1x185) mm2 12/20 kV CPR Fca medium voltage cable.
Trees play a significant role in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and are a vital part of the environment in which we live, and today, more than ever, every tree planted matters and every one of us needs to get involved in voluntary actions to protect the environment. Our planting action involved mapping and demarcating the area around the Milcov factory, preparing the land, digging the pits and planting the saplings. In the end we ended up with 110 acacia saplings and the satisfaction that in just a few years we will have a beautiful green belt in the area around our factory.
Our colleagues showed their interest and solidarity towards this action, realizing that we have to be responsible towards the environment in which we live, but unfortunately we could not involve all those who expressed their desire to participate, the current pandemic situation forcing us to reduce the number of participants.
Thank you all.
