Prysmian Romania at Skanska Proptech Hackathon
The Skanska Proptech Hackathon ended after 48 hours of brainstorming, long discussions turned into complex software solutions and lots of fun!
A total of 18 local and international finalist teams competed in 6 categories of the competition, which focused on topics specific to the office industry. The challenges addressed by the Skanska and Proptech Romania teams to those who entered the competition were to identify and develop digital solutions and platforms that would add value to office buildings. Solutions for a future with smart offices in which users enjoy maximum comfort have been conceived and presented.
The Prysmian team was represented by three of our colleagues that join out Prysmian Romania family following the recruitment process of the Graduate program:
- Jorge Montes - production engineer - has been part of the Prysmian Romania team for several months. He studied Industrial Engineering at both the faculty and the master's degree and he lived in 11 cities in 3 different countries so far. Jorge’s Prysmian career started in June last year, where he worked in various roles in Telecom Operations, Finance and Sales Energy. A few months ago Jorge joined Telecom Romania in his current position.
- Nese Koc – was working for Prysmian for a year and a half under the Build the Future program. She was born in Izmir, then moved to Istanbul for university. While she was studying, she made an exchange year in France. After the graduation, Nese got Prysmian Group Graduate Program opportunity and moved again, to Bursa this time. Finally, in August 2019 Nese moved into her 5th home, Slatina for her 2 years international assignment. Here she is part of the Process Engineering team and has the opportunity to work in collaboration with the Production and R&D team on her projects.
- Anqi Xu - is the newest colleague who joined the Prysmian Romania team and is an R&D engineer.
The three colleagues present at the Skanska Proptech Hackathon competition presented a case study conducted with one of our partners (a well-known provider of street lighting solutions) for a smart lighting solution (Smart Lightning) using hybrid cables, which in addition to the lighting itself offers multiple benefits such as high-speed wi-fi network up to 92m distances, connections for radar systems, video surveillance, audio recording or air quality measurement and more.
The 48 hours spent in the competition were an incredible experience, and the connections created for further discussions about our innovative cable solutions were the best reward for our participation.
With this occasion we thank our colleagues for their commitment, enthusiasm and flexibility to respond to the challenges! We are happy they are part of our diverse Prysmian Romania team.
