Prysmian Romania contributes to the expansion of the internet and fibre optic network!
On Friday, 17 May 2019, Prysmian Romania participated in the closing meeting of the RO-NET project, set up by the Ministry of Communications, as partner and main provider of the project.
The €85 million project, initiated and implemented by Telekom and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, involves the construction of a national broadband infrastructure in disadvantaged areas of the country, which will benefit approximately 400,000 inhabitants of these areas.
RO-NET was a complex project that took two and a half years and required complex negotiations with Telekom and its contractors. The main objectives of its implementation are to reduce the digital divide, promote competition in the broadband electronic communications sector, accelerate the transition to the information society in Romania and increase social cohesion.
Prysmian Romania played an extremely important role in this whole process as the supplier of the cables in the project. The more than 5000 kmc of cables delivered were produced in Slatina Romania, in Prysmian's largest fibre optic cable factory in the world. The Made in Romania telecommunication cables stand out for their exceptional quality, being designed and manufactured in compliance with all quality and safety requirements and certifications, which brought us appreciation and thanks publicly expressed in statements at conferences on the subject from the final beneficiary - the Ministry of Communications - as well as Telekom Romania, Huawei Romania and other contractors.
Both at the Telekom Bucharest Gala in December 2018 and at the RO-NET conference in Iasi, the focus was on the quality of the cables and the way Prysmian supported the whole project, and this would not have been possible without the intelligence and hard work of the people working at Prysmian Slatina.
