Prysmian Group, a world leader in the power and telecommunications cabling systems industry, announces its support for Europacable's multi-market communication campaign on CPR awareness.
As a leader in the cable systems industry, the Group recognizes the need to spread the evidence that most of the new obligations arising from the CPR relate to manufacturers; however, importers and distributors will play an important role as they are obliged to take appropriate measures to ensure that only CPR compliant products are marketed.
Prysmian has been a trailblazer in fire safety from the very beginning, first and foremost in terms of responsibility and specifically through research, design and product development.
In line with Europacable, the voice of all cable and wire manufacturers in Europe, Prysmian Group is aware that CPR communications activities are the most effective measure to clarify legal requirements to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Whatever your role in the cable supply chain, you have legal fire safety responsibilities. The following quick checklist can help you understand whether you are compliant with the Construction Products Regulations (CPR) or not.
FINAL CHECK FOR COMPLIANCE WITH CPR REQUIREMENTS
- Does the classification comply with national regulations? Are there additional parameters prescribed?
- Is the cable I buy/distribute correctly marked CPR CE on the label and in accordance with local regulations?
- Is the DoP correctly drafted and available?
- Does the label (or any other accompanying document) specify the intended use of the cable according to the intended purpose?
Prysmian recognises that CPR policy is key to increasing public safety and is therefore committed to spreading the key messages of the new EU Construction Products Regulation, ensuring an appropriate level of understanding of CPR among its business partners.
