Prysmian Group delivers cables worth 5.2 million euros for the construction of the new 400MW Thermal Power Plant with combined cycle with gas turbines in Iernut, central Romania.
Prysmian Group, the world leader in the production of energy and telecommunications cables, signed with Romelectro S.A. four contracts to deliver all necessary cables, from 220 kV high voltage cables to 0,6/1 kV low voltage cables, including instrumentation and control cables and fiber optic cables, for the construction of 400MW Thermopower Plant in Iernut.
The delivery of the cables started in the second quarter of 2019 with the high voltage cables manufactured in Pikala - Finland (220kV) and Romania (110kV). The installation of 30 terminals of 220kV and 12 terminals of 110 kV was made by the specialized team of electricians from Prysmian Romania. Also in 2019, 6/10 kV medium voltage cables with copper conductors produced in Slatina and terminal heads produced by Prysmian France (Cornimont) were delivered.
By the end of the second quarter of 2020 Prysmian Romania will cover the supply of 0,6/1kV low voltage cables with copper conductors produced in Slatina, instrumentation and control cables produced in Turkey, as well as the supply of optical cables with single-mode optical fibre produced in Slatina-Milcov and optical cables with multi-mode fibers produced by Draka Nurenberg.
For this project of national importance, Prysmian Romania managed to cover the delivery of all cables and accessories based mainly on the production capacities of the two factories in Romania - Slatina and Milcov covering 80% of the production needed for this project - and from the affiliates in Finland, Turkey, Germany and France.
