At the end of July, at the Fiber Optic factory in Milcov, a new stage of the project called Network Convergence took place, namely the establishment of a working group made up of important energy and telecommunications operators, solution integrators and specialists from the energy and telecom departments from Prysmian Romania.
The central element of the discussion was the opportunity brought by hybrid power and telecom cable in subscriber connection solutions both from a technical and commercial point of view and how hybrid cable solutions can develop new opportunities for FTTH projects of telecom operators or those of digitizing energy networks.
Various solutions were analyzed as well as ideas for improvement that came from all participants in the workshop and the decision to install the hybrid cable in several blocks in Slatina in Q4 2019 is a success considering the novelty of the proposed solution both from a technical point of view, but also of the subsequent operation of this type of network.
The hybrid cable type CYY-F 3G6+1X2 FO IEC60502-1 0.6/1 kV was designed and produced as a prototype by a team consisting of R&D Slatina and colleagues from factories in Hungary and Turkey.
"Network convergence - new connectivity solutions" is a project initiated by BU Telecom Romania and started in November 2018 with a conference on this topic and the announcement of the establishment of a working group (from the press release Prysmian Group announces the creation of a Working Group on networks convergence opportunities in Romania, reuniting decision-making authorities, regulators, major telecom and energy players).
