Crane

OVERVIEW

Linking safety and high-performance to sustainable port operations worldwide

Cranes and lifts are used to move goods in different industries. Such devices are used in applications from industrial plants to commercial harbours and require high levels of safety and reliability.

Prysmian’s crane cables can be found supporting the safe and sustainable operations of infrastructure in the top 100 ports around the world. With solutions that withstand high stress and offer longer life, wherever there are unique or demanding crane requirements, our cable is there.

Generations of crane cable expertise

For decades the crane industry has relied upon Prysmian Group for high-quality cable solutions. Our innovative designs and in-house formulated and produced materials mean longer cable life, resulting in increased production, reduced downtime, and significantly lowered costs

And thanks to our supply of cable for electrification projects in port infrastructure, we have contributed to the reduction of CO2 emission produced by the ports themselves.
For example, today, short electrical connections for a vessel’s power supply have replaced diesel engines used in the past for the same purpose.

Products and solutions offered by Prysmian Group include

  • Cables specifically designed to withstand severe duty flexing and torsional stress;
  • Heavy-duty, robust cable that resists abrasion, chemical solvents, oil, flame, moisture and the most diverse environmental conditions;
  • Hybrid cable solutions that combine power supply and data transmission features.

Prysmian Group is expert manufacturer of specialized cables that withstand the flexing and high stress of container-handling terminals and yard cranes.

Prysmian Group offers a competitive array of durable and dependable cable solutions, engineered specifically for demanding environments and conditions.

Prysmian Group has long-standing experience and expertise in the development of rubber-based materials. Our world-leading products are all manufactured in-house using rubber compounds formulated especially by the Group.

Prysmian Group is a proud member of the Port Equipment Manufacturing Association (PEMA).

An international commitment to quality

Uncompromised standards and quality Compliance with most of the worldwide standards is ensured, and not just to the well-known DIN VDE standard.

Prysmian crane cables also meet IEC and all major international standards and, for certain cables, the AS (Australia) and UL (USA) standards.

Prysmian Crane Cables have been designed to assure considerable reliability and maximum performance even under extremely severe conditions.

This results in shorter crane downtime and lower maintenance costs, as well as guaranteeing the best value for money across the marketplace.

The product range comprises of:

Designed and manufactured for use in continuous flexing, twisting, and other abusive physical applications where flame, abrasion, chemicals, moisture, impact, tearing, and temperature extremes are considerations. Applications include festoon systems.
Designed and manufactured for use in continuous flexing, twisting, and other abusive physical applications where flame, abrasion, chemicals, moisture, impact, tearing, and temperature extremes are considerations. Applications include festoon systems. Flatform is preferred where space is at a premium, since it can be stacked; or where extreme flexing is a requirement.

Flexible reeling cables for very high mechanical stresses. Designed and manufactured to be particularly suitable for operations involving frequent reeling and un-reeling use including spring and motor driven reels.

Specifically designed for use on the latest generations of high-speed container cranes with gravity-fed collector baskets. They combine the features of superior flexibility with additional ballast needed to operate at speeds of up to 160 meters/min (8.75 ft/sec).
Highly flexible cables specially designed and manufactured for use in chains applications (continuous horizontal traction).
Flexible reeling cable, for high mechanical stresses, e.g. dynamic tensile loads. Designed and manufactured for use in medium-voltage reeling applications on container handling cranes, log handling cranes, stacker reclaimers, ship loaders and unloaders, and other similar material handling applications involving frequent reeling and un-reeling use.
Crane spreader reeling cables are specifically designed and manufactured to withstand abusive environments, high hoist and trolley speeds and extreme mechanical stresses predominant on vertical reeling systems found in new generation ship to shore container cranes.
